Speaker Bio

Karl has over 20 years of environmental engineering and geological experience including petroleum storage tank investigation and remediation, mining reclamation, water system evaluation and design, hydrogeologic studies and compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). He received a Bachelors in Geological Engineering and Masters in Mineral Engineering, both from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, is a registered professional engineer in five states and a professional geologist in six states.

He has been a Vice President and Regional Manager of Souder, Miller & Associates, a New Mexico-based engineering, environmental and surveying consulting firm, since 2005.  Since 2014 he has been a member of the New Mexico State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors, serving as the professional engineering committee chair for two years and is now the Board chair for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. Karl lives in Las Cruces with his wife (who is also an engineer) and two young daughters.
